Recently, my office has received a number of calls from District 9 residents who would like to know what can be done about brush and leaf collection after recent thunderstorms caused some issues in a few neighborhoods.
Those in need of leaf collection should contact the City’s 311 Department to request one of the two free leaf pick-ups available to San Antonio residents through the Solid Waste Management Department. Residents should first place leaves in paper bags, cardboard boxes, or lawn & leaf bags (up to 50 bags/boxes), and then place the request through 311.
Residents with additional brush or bulky items are encouraged to visit the Bitters Brush Recycling & Bulky Waste Center located at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway, 78216. City of San Antonio residents who pay the City’s environmental fee will pay a residential rate. When visiting the brush sites, residents need to bring a recent copy of their CPS Energy Bill and a photo I.D. The Bulky Waste Collection Center is free for City solid waste customers who pay an environmental fee; this fee appears on the CPS bill.
Please visit http://www.sanantonio.gov/swmd/Brush/BrushRecyclingCenters.aspx for more information on brush and bulky item drop-off.
Lastly, neighborhoods in need of comprehensive brush collection should schedule a Dial-A-Trailer through 311. The Dial-A-Trailer program allows neighborhoods to schedule a garbage truck on a Saturday to be used for the disposal of brush & bulky items. It is limited to one unit per cleanup, and two (2) Dial-A-Trailer events per year.
Please fill out the following form to request a trailer in your neighborhood.
There is a services sheet attached here that explains the variety of collection and drop-off services the Solid Waste Management Department provides. Please feel free to contact my staff at the contact information provided below if you have any questions or concerns.
