This page contains policies the Board adopts to conduct association business.

Policies when making public statements
Adopted by the VJ Neighborhood Association on 6/14/16

Public statements and interaction with governmental entities may be made about topics that are within the scope of the objectives of the bylaws. Examples:

  • City processes that affect development/ redevelopment within our boundaries and 200 ‘ adjacent to our boundaries – Board of Adjustment, Zoning, Planning
  • City policies that affect the development/ redevelopment, health and safety within our boundaries and/or have city-wide implications – SA Tomorrow comprehensive planning process, City budget process, transportation (Wurzbach, Vance Jackson, and other roads.
  • The policies and practices of other entities that affect the quality of life in our neighborhood – Northside ISD, other schools, Bexar County (flood control), Metropolitan Health District.

The board may develop areas of interest through engaging the membership at the Annual Meeting, other meetings and the Website. It may set priorities, but shall be open to other opportunities that arise during the year.

The membership may request that the board consider topics that are within the scope of the objectives of the bylaws by contacting any board member. The board member shall inform the board president, preferably in writing.

Any member of the board may request that the board consider topics that are within the scope of the objectives of the bylaws.

The board president shall call a meeting of the board, which shall be face-to-face, by conference call, or electronically, to address the topic. The board may invite the membership to be involved.

An effort will be made to present all sides when deliberating.

A majority of the group that is meeting, whether board or membership, must reach consensus before an action is taken.

The membership and board will be encouraged to attend information meetings on topics that are within the scope of the objectives of the bylaws that are held by governmental entities.

The board will follow ARTICLE V: GOVERNMENT of the Bylaws regarding Section 4: Representation Authority.
