This year’s election of officers took place at our annual meeting on January 18th. The 2005 officers list is shown below.
I am happy that Woody was not able to make good on his word in the last newsletter to simply say, “Good Luck, Bye now.” We re-upped him as Treasurer. I am also happy Woody gave me the gavel as promised. I enthusiastically used it this month and kept the Directors’ meeting under one hour, possibly a 20-year record for the association!
By way of quick introduction, I purchased my current residence in The Summit in 1989. I live there with my wife Melly and son Teddy, Jr. (And no, he has not declared for the 2035 Mayoral race yet.) I became interested in neighborhood activities in the mid-90s, as a result of the Fiesta Texas Train issue and some zoning cases.
Over the next month, VJ will help to host the District 8 Mayoral Forum on February 22. We will represent neighborhood interests at the Zoning Commission meeting on March 1. Zoning case 2004189 seeks a special use permit to heighten the cell phone tower behind the Oak Ridge Baptist Church at Wurzbach and Vance Jackson. All properties surrounding the tower are zoned Residential and VJ will request changes to reduce the visual impact of the tower.
President – Ted Trakas (The Summit)
Vice President – Daniel Causey (Foothills)
Secretary – Norma Baird (Charter Oaks Condos)
Treasurer – Woody Halsey (Charter Oaks)
